The maker of these poker-size playing cards is the US Playing Card Co., from Cincinnati, Ohio; the leading US playing card manufacturer. The decks come with red or blue backs.

These cards have been introduced relatively recently. The cards are basically Bee designs with some added security features to supposedly prevent cheating. White borders were added so to make second dealing more difficult; however, these borders do not have hard edges, but rather soft edges, to prevent sorted decks. On the faces the cards are indexed in three different ways, so that when the dealer checks the hole card through the prism he/she can only know if there is a natural, without knowing the actual identity of the hole card, should it not be a natural 21. This is to prevent signaling to a partner.
