Ferdinando Gumppenberg -- Il Dielettevole Giuoco del Cucco
40 playing cards

This is a facsimile edition of an old Cucco deck, that was originally published by Ferdinando Gumppenberg, from Milan, Italy (1820-1846). Cucco is an group of ancient card games, played in many parts of Europe. The games date back to the 16th or 17th century and have most likely originated in Italy. These games later crossed Central Europe and were adopted in Scandinavian countries. Today, these games can still be found in Northern Italy, Sweden and Norway.

The Italian deck shown on this page is composed of 40 non-suited cards. The cards show illustrations of subjects, repeated twice, as well as numerical cards from 0 to 10 (some decks have numerical cards up to 12, depending on the region the deck is from).
