These poker-size playing cards were made by the US Playing Card Co., from Cincinnati, Ohio; the leading American playing card manufacturer. The decks are composed of 56 aces of spades. Since there are no card games that use only aces of spades, one may wonder what these decks are meant to be used for. But these cards were never intended to be used for any card games.

This deck was first created at the request of a US soldier in the Vietnam war. The Vietnamese had a superstitious fear of the ace of spades. The soldier asked the US Playing Card Co. to send him ace of spade cards to use as a kind of terror weapon against the enemy. The company met the soldier's request and sent him a deck of cards composed of only aces of spades. Other soldiers soon requested the same kinds of decks and the company sent many thousands of decks of ace of spades. This story was printed in the Cincinnati Enquirer and this issue is framed and on the wall in the US Playing Card Co. store.
