Contribution Guidelines

To contribute materials to our archives you may use our contribution form. Please read our guidelines (below) first.

To contribute an article:

We accept two kinds of articles.

  • articles with complete rules of card games
  • articles about the history of playing cards

If you wish to contribute any such articles, please use our contribution form and let us know how you wish to be credited.

To contribute images of playing cards:

It is impossible to build an archive of all the playing cards ever made. For this reason we need to limit our collection to the following criteria. We accept all standard and no-standard decks, for any card games, except those that fall under any of the categories below.

  • no photographic cards
  • no cartoon cards
  • no advertising cards
  • no souvenir cards
  • no fortune telling cards

If you are contributing a standard deck, we would like to get scanned images of the back design, the ace showing the manufacturer's logo (and/or tax stamp), the joker(s), and any other card that may be particular to the deck.

If you are contributing a non-standard deck, we would like to get scanned images of the entire deck. Cards do not have to be scanned individually, but it does help to have a slight separation between the cards, if they are scanned side-by-side.

Images should preferable be 300 DPI in resolution (if at all possible; but no less than 150 DPI). The best way to send images is to host them on a server (such as Flickr) where we can simply download them. But if this is not possible, we can make other arrangements. However, in the interest of online security, we cannot accept emails with attachments form unknown sources.

To send us a gift deck of cards:

In the event that you feel generous (or if it is easier for you to send us a deck, rather than scanning all the cards) you may send us a gift deck of cards. Your gift will be greatly appreciated and fully credited, along with the images that we display on our site.
